Woman freezes to death in Armenian city
A 70-year-old woman was found frozen to death in a home in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri, President of the Shirak Center NGO Vahan Tumasyan said on Tuesday.
The elderly woman lived alone in a domik (metal shipping container).
It's the first such case of death in the city this winter, he said in a public post on Facebook.
All circumstances of the woman’s death are being verified, Tumasyan said, adding she may not have actually lived at the address where she was registered.
"The elderly woman was buried today by the Gyumri municipality at the part of Shirak cemetery, which is intended for the burial of the homeless and people left without care," he wrote.
