St. Sargis holiday celebrations cancelled in Armenia
Every year, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the holiday of St. Sargis, the patron of the young and those in love. Being initiated by Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, St. Sargis Day is marked as a youth holiday for already several years.
The Day is traditionally celebrated 63 days before Easter, on a Saturday falling on January 30 this year. However, as Araratian Pontifical Diocese reports, no celebrations are scheduled this year, instead programs aimed at the needs of servicemen are expanded.
"Most people are in need of prayers and consolation today," the Diocese said in a message, sharing videos of St. Sargis prayers on the occasion of the day.
