Two more bodies found during search operations, Artsakh emergency service says
Two more bodies were found during the ongoing search operations in the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) conflict zone on Sunday, January 24, Artsakh’s State Service of Emergency Situations reported on Monday.
The remains were retrieved from Varanda (Fizuli) region and the village of Tumi in Hadrut region. One of them was reportedly a civilian.
A forensic examination is set to be carried out to establish their identities, the service said.
Search operations continue today in Varanda (Fizuli), Jrakan (Jabrayil) and Hadrut regions, as well as in the direction of the village of Mataghis.
Armenia and Azerbaijan started the search for the bodies of killed soldiers and their exchange on 13 November 2020, following the November 9 ceasefire agreement.
So far, Artsakh rescue squads have recovered 1,283 bodies from the battle zones. 15 of them are said to be civilians who have been either murdered or fatally wounded during the hostilities. The 1,268 fallen troops also include volunteers and reservists.
