Russian, Turkish troops begin joint monitoring of the Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire
The Russian-Turkish ceasefire monitoring center in Nagorno-Karabakh started its work on January 30, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Friday on the outcomes of the talks with his Azerbaijani colleague Zakir Hasanov, The Associated Press reported.
"The work on the creation of a joint center where Turkish and Russian troops will serve is done. It begins its work tomorrow," the statement published by the Turkish Defense Ministry informed.
The source reminds that Turkey and Russia agreed to form an observation center — located in Azerbaijan — shortly after the cease-fire agreement, reached in November, ended six weeks of intense fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
