Former President Serzh Sargsyan met with Russian Ambassador in Armenia
At the initiative of the Russian side, the leader of Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), former President Serzh Sargsyan met on Thursday with the Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin, Deputy Chairman at RPA Armen Ashotyan informed.
"A wide range of issues related to the consequences of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh was discussed during the meeting. President Sargsyan thanked the Russian side for continuous efforts aimed at maintaining the ceasefire, addressing humanitarian issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, and specifically emphasized the importance of Russia's involvement in process of the peaceful settlement of the conflict, as an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing country, based on basic principles, including the right of people for self-determination."
According to the sources, the interlocutors also discussed issues of the return of Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan, works of search operations and recovery of the bodies of the killed in the conflict zone.
At the request of the Ambassador, Serzh Sargsyan also briefed on the inter-political situation in the country as well as presented his views on the new geopolitical reality in the region.
