Expert: Armenian lobby and diplomacy in Washington should work with ‘passes’ and ‘score a goal’
The Armenian lobby and diplomacy in the US should work with "passes" and "score a goal", expert on international relations Suren Sargsyan said in a Facebook post on Friday.
The expert deplored the fact that Armenia has not measured the damages the country’s economy suffered in the wake of sanctions against Iran and Russia.
“These calculations should be made and presented to our American partners at every opportunity, not with any demand, but simply as an additional argument for the fact that our lobbyists in Washington are calling for $200 million in assistance to Armenia and Artsakh.
“This is how the work in Washington should be coordinated so that the lobby and diplomacy can work with "passes" and "score a goal" without violating the written and unwritten rules of the host country.
“There are very good examples of cooperation between lobbies and the embassy in 1990s, when, despite serious internal conflicts in Armenia, they successfully cooperated in Washington,” Sargsyan said.
