Body of another fallen soldier found during search operations, Artsakh says
Artsakh search and rescue squads on Friday found the body of another serviceman killed in the 2020 war, the State Service of Emergency Situations reported on Saturday.
The soldier’s remains were retrieved from Hadrut, the service said, adding the body is yet to be identified through a forensic DNA analysis.
Search operations continue today in Hadrut and Jrakan (Jabrayil).
Since November 13, 1,365 bodies of fallen troops and civilians have been recovered from the former areas of combat operations. According to preliminary data, 15 of the victims were civilians, the service said.
Earlier on Friday, a total of 1,355 bodies were reported to have been found during the search operations. Today’s numbers have increased by 10 despite the fact that only one soldier’s body was found by rescuers in one day.
Panorama.am reached the spokesman of the State Service of Emergency Situations, Hunan Tadevosyan, for comments on the matter.
“During the search, there were cases when the identities of the found bodies were established or the bodies were found in the areas adjacent to Syunik Province and were easier to transfer to Goris, therefore the data were not included in our general statistics,” he said.
