New protest demanding government in Georgia to open borders with Armenia, Russia to take place in Javakheti
People in Georgia's Samtskhe - Javakheti region will hold a new protest on February 10, to demand the government to open the borders with Armenia and Russia.
"Our main demand is opening Georgia's borders with neighboring countries, particularly with Russia and Armenia. We will also raise our voice against the increase of prices for consumer goods. We were promised by the government to get subsidies for flour and other products, however, the prices are still raising. On February 10, at 12:00 we will again gather outside the Mayor's Office in Akhalkalaki and raise our voice," one of the organizers of the protest told Alik Media.
To remind, the previous protests took place in Akhalkalaki took place on January 31 and February 3. About 100 people gathered in the center of Akhalkalaki with the same demand, urging the government to open the borders with Armenia and Russia,
Jam-news reported that the land borders have been closed for almost a year since March 2000 due to the high rate of coronavirus infection in these countries.
