Iran's permanent membership in EAEU underway, speaker of parliament says
Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has announced that negotiations for Iran's permanent membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are underway and the process will be started in two weeks.
Ghalibaf's comments came at a briefing with reporters on Wednesday morning, as he arrived in Tehran to talk about the achievements of the trip to Russia Iran Press reported.
Stating that the visit to Russia was made at the official invitation of the Speaker of Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, Ghalibaf said: "This visit was an opportunity to discuss regional, economic issues, and parliamentary cooperation."
Noting that the most important feature of this trip was to convey the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, he added: "The Leader's emphasis is on long-term strategic coordination and agreements with Russia."
