Authorities will be removed under increasing public pressure - Ishkhan Saghatelyan
The Coordinator at the opposition Homeland Salvation Movement Ishkhan Saghatelyan commented on recent statements by the ruling force representatives about the lack of public demand for holding snap elections in Armenia.
"Where have the authorities got the survey results about lack of public demand for elections? Were those surveys conducted within only the ruling force or in Azerbaijani Mili Mejlis? If authorities think they can cede a significant portion of the motherland, leave 5,000 killed, thousands of injured, missing people, more than 10,000 disabled, they have no moral and political right to stay in power," Saghatelyan told reporters at Liberty Square on Friday.
In his words, statements by Pashinyan about the lack of public demand for elections is are an insult to the people of Armenia. "There is such a demand, and the ruling force will definitely learn and sea that hard way," said the opposition representative.
He next noted that the opposition will make certain corrections in its tactic of the struggle. "However, as we have repeatedly said, the authorities will be removed under the nationwide pressure. No doubt, we will make that happen."
"If the authorities do not perceive the created situation in Armenia, they should be simply removed," said the ARFD member, adding as long as Pashinyan remains in power, no peace, stability or progress may come to Armenia.
"There is a nationwide demand for his removal, yet we have bot managed to turn that demand into a national struggle. I am confident it will turn into a national struggle, and the authorities will be removed," said Saghatelyan.
