MES warns people to stay out amid earthquakes aftershocks
A series of aftershocks have been reported on Saturday after the 5-6-magnitude earthquake jolted capital city Yerevan and number of provinces in Armenia, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) reported, adding
a total of 20 aftershocks have been reported as of 18.00 local time. The quake aftershocks are gradually decreasing, the source said. The emergency authorities also warn citizens to stay out of an open space.
According to the source, the MES Crisis Management Center has received 1310 earthquake-related alerts. Two of the damages reported have been confirmed with of them in Ayvazovsky and the other in Smbat Zoravar streets in Yerevan.
To remind, a magnitude 4.7 earthquake in the territory of Armenia on Saturday at 15:29 local time. The earthquake struck 8km southeast of capital city Yerevan at a depth of 10km. The jolts were felt in Yerevan city with magnitude 5-6.
