Vazgen Manukyan: It will take a long time to achieve tangible results
One of young men expressed concerns over the issue of emigration at a meeting with Vazgen Manukyan, the candidate of the opposition Homeland Salvation Movement for a caretaker prime minister.
In a conversation with the opposition leader at Liberty Square in Yerevan on Tuesday, he asked Manukyan what measures the opposition plans to take to stop the emigration and help people earn their living in their homeland.
Vazgen Manukyan said that people leave the country for two reasons. "First, they do not have jobs. They migrated in previous years as well, now even more. Second, they have lost hope that this country has a future. I think that when Nikol [Pashinyan] resigns, Yerevan will be as jubilant as after Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation in 2018,” he noted.
In the meantime, Manukyan said that it will take a long time for them to achieve tangible results in case they come to power.
"The steps that need to be taken will not be visible immediately, the practical steps will come later. But if people have faith in the future of the country, they will wait. However, I am afraid that when the borders open, many will leave, not only because they are unemployed, but also because of despair," he said, adding that radical changes inspire people.
