The British Council is launching the 17th edition of its annual Film Festival for nine days of virtual screenings. As British Council Armenia reported in a press release, the films will be more accessible than ever before, with a special platform taking the cinema experience into homes across Armenia.

From 19 to 28 February film lovers across Armenia will be able to discover and view iconic works by British directors from the past 20 years for free, as well as a selection of the best short films according to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

The Festival features films from all genres, from dramas to documentaries, as well as several that have won prestigious awards. Films featured in the Festival are: Late Night Shopping, The Warrior (BATFA Award Winner for Outstanding British Film), Red Road (2006 winner of the Cannes Jury Prize), Submarine, Tyrannosaur (2011 British Independent Film Award winner), Lady Macbeth and the Imposter (2012 BAFTA award winning documentary).

The BAFTA 2020 Shorts programme includes a selection of the live action and animation short film nominees selected in 2020. The programme represents storytelling that reveals the breadth and diversity of British society, together with world class technical flair, and features some of our finest acting talents. This programme is the perfect package to develop international audiences and showcase the UK’s on-going tradition of producing world class short film.
