Mikayel Minasyan: Armenian, Azeri security chiefs, Artsakh leader set to discuss steps to ‘integrate remnants of Artsakh into Azerbaijan’
“It’s clear to all that the war is not over. We have realized that defeat is not a one-time event, but a continuous process,” Armenia’s former Ambassador to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan wrote on Telegram on Thursday.
He noted that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s and his team’s “lack of self-esteem” and their efforts to “please the enemy” prevent the Armenian people from waking up, self-organizing and trying to start everything from scratch.
“Every day, Nikol and his team are humiliating us all. Azerbaijan and Turkey make threats, while Nikol’s team speaks of regional cooperation. Azerbaijan and Turkey are conducting fresh military exercises, while Nikol is talking about opening the borders,” he noted.
“This has been going on for four months. Pashinyan and his defeated team continue to humiliate themselves, hand over new territories, destroy our negotiation positions and any prospects to rectify the situation. They hope that engaging in a giveaway with Aliyev they will be able to get at least something that will help them stay in power.
“One of the steps in this game is the planned meeting of Director of Armenia’s National Security Service Armen Abazyan, [Artsakh President] Arayik Harutyunyan, [commander of Russian peacekeeping contingent in Karabakh] Rustam Muradov and Chair of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan Ali Nagiyev. The secret meeting, which Armen Abazyan agreed on during his recent visit to Moscow, will take place on the contact line not far from Matagis in the next few days. Abazyan, Harutyunyan and Nagiyev are planning to discuss “infrastructure issues”, but, in fact, the steps to integrate what remains of Artsakh into Azerbaijan,” Minasyan said.
In the ex-ambassador’s words, it is not just a regular meeting, but part of Pashinyan’s plan to “undermine the Armenian statehood”.
“Armenia's readiness to humiliate itself only spurs on the desire of Turkey and Azerbaijan to get more territories, concessions and guarantees from Nikol. A person cannot and must not go unpunished after severely humiliating his country and people. This means that the time for historical, legal and moral responsibility is very close,” Minasyan said.
