Participants of the opposition protest march arrive in France Square in Yerevan
Thousands of demonstrators, attending the protest march organised by Homeland Salvation Movement, arrived in France square in downtown Yerevan, after marching through central Baghramyan Avenue. Prior to that, the protesters stopped at the building of the National Assembly and the Presidential administration.
"Three years ago the gates to the National Assembly were open, and the authorities used to state that the National Assembly belonged to the people and no gates should block their entry. As you see today, the gates are locked firmly as ever before which reveals the real face of today's leaders," ARFD member Ishkhan Saghatelyan announced during the march.
Saghatelyan next appealed to parliamentarians of the ruling force to go to the street and join the protest.
"We call on you once again to come to your senses and never become a pillar of the traitor," said Saghatelyan.
To remind, the Monday march started from the Arabkir Park at 6pm and will conclude France square, where actions of civili disobedience are planned. Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF, Dashnaktsutyun) Supreme Council of Armenia member Ishkhan Saghatelyan, who coordinates the activities of the opposition coalition, urged citizens to join the march to “build the Armenia of tomorrow, restore our dignity and preserve the Armenian identity.”
At Saturday’s rally, Saghatelyan said the opposition would be holding street protests every day starting from Monday until the removal of the current authorities.
