Armenian analyst slams arrest of former parliament chief of staff Ara Saghatelyan
Head of the Henaket Analytical Center Tigran Abrahamyan took to Facebook late on Sunday to denounce the arrest of Ara Saghatelyan, a former chief of staff of the Armenian parliament.
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction on Sunday ruled to arrest Saghatelyan, who had been detained as part of a criminal case in connection with the fake Gagik Soghomonyan Facebook user account.
“The court granted a motion to arrest Ara Saghatelyan, imposing a two-month arrest on him as a measure of restraint,” Abrahamyan said.
“Those who surrender their homeland and are in a romantic relationship with the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem will step by step persecute all those who our country needs.
“They are trying to focus our attention on everyday life, internal conflicts, detentions/arrests of various public figures, while in parallel, they are negotiating with our enemies, handing over territories to them and discussing projects with uncertain prospects, not forgetting about their own well-being and pleasures.
“All this comes at the expense of the blood of thousands of victims and the future of generations,” the analyst wrote.
