Arman Saghatelyan: ‘Some monkeys' terrified of Ara Saghatelyan
Opposition figure Arman Saghatelyan, a co-founder of Qaryak Media, took to Facebook on Monday to strongly condemn a court ruling to arrest his uncle Ara Saghatelyan, a former chief of staff of the National Assembly, for two months as part of a criminal case in connection with Gagik Soghomonyan fake Facebook user.
“Arik is not the first and probably not the last political prisoner in our family. Arik's maternal grandfather, talented engineer Ashot Matinyan was declared an enemy of the nation in the late 1930s because he had been educated in France and was placed under arrest. He could even have been executed, but the war began, and it turned out that the retreating and destroyed army needed pontoon bridges, and grandpa Ashot was needed to design and build them,” he wrote.
“The grandfather was quickly returned to the army, and after the end of the war he was made responsible for the restoration of Ukraine’s capital Kiev. In fact, Ashot was not particularly interested in politics, unlike his elder grandson – Arik’s elder brother and my late father, Professor Armen Saghatelyan.
“My father was one of the main authors of the "National State" ideology in the case when the national ideology was declared a "false category" in the country. In the early 1990s, they tried to hide from me the repressions of the "law enforcement agencies" against my father, because, to put it mildly, I did not show adequate behavior. However, I am aware of some circumstances,” the opposition figure said.
He denounced the “lawlessness” in the country, stating the country continues to “rapidly slide into the abyss.”
“The disgraceful capitulation, the loss of Artsakh and an entire generation will be followed by an irreversible internal collapse. It cannot be overturned, but the ignorant swindlers think that they can extend their own infamous rule. Therefore, we will be witnessing more cheap shows, which, in fact, only bring the time of collapse closer.
“Arik loves dogs and they love Arik. But some monkeys are terrified of Arik like stray dogs and they have a good reason, because he is the bearer of a gene, ideas and principles that are not only alien to the pitiful capitulators, but also dangerous and destructive,” Arman Saghatelyan said.
