Azerbaijan bans search and rescue operations in Artsakh
No search operations for casualties of the 2020 war and those missing in action have been conducted in the territories beyond Artsakh’s control since February 15, the head of press department at the the Artsakh State Service of Emergency Situations Hunan Tadevosyan told Panorama.am. In his words, the Azerbaijani authorities have banned the activities of Artsakh search and rescue teams in the former combat zones, without providing any explanations and clear dates for the resumption of the operations.
"The Russian side is holding negotiations with the Azeri side. In case of an update, we will be notified. To me, the negotiations have yielded no result thus far," said Tadevosyan.
To note, thus far, a total of 1,485 bodies of fallen troops and civilians have been found during the operations.
