The construction of a water pumping station in Nagorno-Karabakh has been resumed
Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh are providing security for the construction of a water pumping station to provide water to the settlements of Khnabat and Askeran, most of which were left without water supply as a result of the fighting, Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday.
Earlier, construction work on the pumping station was suspended due to its location in close proximity to the line of demarcation of the parties, the source said.
The resumption of construction work became possible as a result of the agreements reached between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides with the assistance of the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
It is noted that currently, drinking water in Khnabat and Askeran is delivered by municipal services, but after the commissioning of the pumping station, its capacity will be sufficient to provide drinking water not only to the population of these cities, but also to nearby agricultural land.
