Artak Davtyan appointed as General Staff chief by force of law, Armenian PM says
Artak Davtyan has been appointed as chief of the Armenian military’s General Staff by force of law, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a statement on Monday.
“Given the fact that the President has not signed the draft decree submitted by the Prime Minister [on the appointment] and has not applied to the Constitutional Court, Artak Davtyan is considered to have been appointed to the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces by force of law,” the statement said.
The appointment is coming into force under Article 139 (Part 3) of the Constitution and Article 35.1 (Part 3) of the law “On Military Service and Status of Servicemen”, the premier noted.
