MP: Artsakh’s security should become part of Armenian foreign policy discourses on all international platforms
The recent Artsakh war and post-war realities have made the awakening of Armenians and overcoming the deep internal political crisis “an imperative of the day”, independent MP Gor Gevorgyan said on Tuesday, addressing the parliament.
According to him, today, more than ever, a complete settlement of the current situation in the country is impossible without the unification of Artsakh and all the forces around it.
“In this sense, the November 9, 2020 statement is the biggest and most difficult trial for our statehood. Reflections on the realities in our country and Artsakh have led to the following: since the independence of the third republic, Artsakh and, in particular, the Artsakh heroic battles have become not only a military-political and moral-psychological trajectory of the modern history of the Armenian people, but also an ideological basis for building a newly independent Armenian statehood,” he said.
Gor Gevorgyan noted that Artsakh and Syunik Province of Armenia are the pillars of the Armenian statehood, therefore, both the strengthening of the Armenian statehood and the future are directly connected with both Artsakh and Syunik.
“The issue of Artsakh's security should become a part of the Armenian foreign policy discourses on all international platforms, with ensuring the security of Syunik and the immediate return of Armenian prisoners from Azerbaijan also conditioned by it.
“We must constantly talk about the occupation of a large part of Artsakh by Azerbaijan and its bellicose statements still being made against Armenia, as well as the expansionist policy of Turkey,” the MP said.
