
Artsakh has new human rights defender
The National Assembly of Artsakh on Thursday held its regular plenary session during which, among other issues, the new human rights defender was elected, Artsakhpress reported.
The Democratic Party of Artsakh parliamentary faction nominated Chief of Staff of the Office of the Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan for the post of ombudsman.
Gegham Stepanyan was elected with 22 votes in favor and 8 votes against.
In a post on Facebook, National Assembly Speaker Ashot Ghulyan congratulated Gegham Stepanyan on his election as Artsakh’s new ombudsman, hailing him as a well-trained young statesman with a strong sense of responsibility.
