More than 7,000 new Covid-19 cases predicted in Armenia in the coming week - Gayane Sahakyan
"The situation with the coronavirus epidemic remains tense in Armenia at present, as there is a pressure on the hospital system to deal with the increased number of Covid-19 patients," the deputy head of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention Gayane Sahakyan told a press conference on Monday.
"We have recorded 90% growth in coronavirus cases over the recent weeks," Sahakyan stressed, saying the coefficient of the transmission dynamics of the outbreak stands at 1.2. "This means that in the coming week we may see more than 7000 new cases which will put the health system into a serious position," said the health sector official, adding if that happens the available hospital beds may no longer have the capacity to serve the patients waiting for hospitalization.
