Fonseca says he will reassess Mkhitaryan's readiness for matches next week
AS Roma Head Coach Paulo Fonseca spoke to the media ahead of Roma's Serie A game against Sassuolo on Saturday evening. Fonseca gave an injury update and said he would reassess Armenian national team member and Roma attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan next week. “He’s working individually, he’s doing much better. We’ll see next week," said the coach.
To remind, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is out due to a calf strain. The Armenian suffered the injury during Thursday’s Europa League victory over Shakhtar Donetsk. He came up limp in the 35th minute and was replaced by Borja Mayoral in attack.
To note, the Giallorossi sit sixth in Serie A with 50 points from 28 games, five points behind the top four in Italy, but the coach said he doesn’t feel the players have given up on qualifying for the Champions League.
