Authorities are continuously generating false agendas - Aram Talalyan
"The current authorities of Armenia are continuously creating false agendas and by doing so, they refer to examples from other countries. Those, who have not been abroad, have no idea about the real state of affairs there," an Armenian cellist and conductor Aram Talalyan told a press conference on Monday.
Talalyan's remarks came when asked to comment on a resonated statement by Pashinyan about the sale of university buildings in the center of Yerevan and instead creating an academic town outside the city.
In the words of Talalyan, universities should be based in densely populated areas with libraries and developed transportation infrastructure. He added universities 'should breathe the life of the city not a pasture.'
"Moving universities from the city means breaking a mentality formed throughout centuries. This move by the authorities solves two issues: first, they divert people's attention and secondly, certain developments take place under the guise of that step we are not aware of. With this, the issue of universities is solve and Overton windows are opening. The whole country is now in the Overton window," said the speaker.
He next insisted that the students, who took to streets in 2018 to bring Pashinyan to power, are now in deep depression, realizing how gravely they had been mistaken.
"People have no trust and hope that anything may change. Our generation should have been broken more but it appears the youth are in a worse situation as they do not see any future in their country. Imagine what will happen when the borders are open," said Talalyan.
