We must restore reputation of powerful Armenian army – Seyran Ohanyan
Armenia’s former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan on Tuesday called for efforts to restore the reputation of the powerful Armenian military.
"I am not going to talk about defeat today. We had powerful military and now we must restore the reputation of the powerful Armenian army," Ohanyan said at a rally of the opposition Homeland Salvation Movement in the town of Sevan.
He called on the participants of the rally to applaud every soldier and commander of the Armenian army.
"When the army and the people are united, they are invincible," Ohanyan stated, adding that one of the reasons for Armenia’s defeat in the recent Artsakh war was the failure to create a strong rear for the army.
According to the former official, the Armenian army and the people have always been united in difficult moments, while during the rule of the current authorities the idea of unity has been blown away.
"Due to the incompetent actions of the current authorities, we did not succeed in mobilizing the entire Armenian people, all our forces in Armenia, Artsakh, the regions to have the back of our army and emerge victorious," he said.
