Armenian currency depreciated by 5 drams in just 5 days, says former official
Armenia's national currency, the dram, has heavily depreciated in just five days, the former chief of staff of Armenia’s Constitutional Court and former ambassador to Poland, Edgar Ghazaryan, said on Wednesday.
“I promised to address the issue of the AMD exchange rate when it hits 540 drams. It happened on April 7, 2021. 1 dollar rose to 535 drams on April 2. In just 5 days, the Armenian currency has depreciated by 5 drams. In fact, if 60 drams are added to $1 now, it will be possible to buy three “branded” eggs priced at 200 drams each,” he wrote on Facebook.
“Continue to enjoy the "outcome" of the post-war "economic revolution" and deal with the "elections" or, in the same way, the process of strengthening the rule of the criminal authorities that caused this disaster!” Ghazaryan added, promising to again refer to the issue when “1 dollar is traded at 550 drams”.
