Our authorities are incapable to return the captives - Larisa Alaverdyan
First Ombudsman of Armenia Larisa Alaverdyan believes that the parents of war prisoners should be cautious about to whom they delegate the task of returning their sons from Azerbaijani captivity. Alaverdyan said the above at a press conference on Monday. In Alaverdyan's words, if the relatives of the captives believe Nikol Pashinyan is the one who is able to solve their issue and still trust him, they would have no rest, as it would mean to agree to a new crime against their sons.
"We should clarify that these authorities, who have given up your sons to the enemy, do not respect the ones who are struggling to bring them back," said Alaverdyan, adding the international community knows the criminal nature of the Azerbaijani leadership but knows also that the authorities if the other side are their accomplices the reason they do not want to interfere.
Alaverdyan reminded she had been dealing with the issue of captives for more than 30 year, yet have not seen such an inaction as showed by Pashinyan.
"It is unprecedented that a person who came to power through manipulative technologies and stabbed peoples' expectation making use of their trust and naiveness, gave up their sons to the enemy, and there are still certain people among the victims who believe in him. These authorities are incapable to solve the issue of the captives without committing another crime. If the parents do not believe they may unwillingly become accomplices of that new crime," said Alaverdyan.
