600 cases of coronavirus reinfection recorded in Armenia, health minister says
Armenia has recorded 600 cases of COVID-19 reinfection since the disease outbreak, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said in the parliament on Thursday.
Answering the questions of lawmakers, the minister said experts of the ministry have conducted a study to reveal their possible causes.
According to her, in the course of the studies, the period of the tests was considered, since in order to register a coronavirus reinfection the interval between them must be more than 90 days. However, the minister did not present the findings of the study.
“At the moment, some 20,000 reinfections have been reported around the world, which indicates the possibility of people being infected again,” Avanesyan said, adding although this is not a very large number, but it is still too early to draw any conclusions.
She expressed confidence that the world scientific institutions will soon publish the results of their studies and the Ministry of Health and the public will get more accurate information on the causes of reinfections.
