French Senate speaker to attend Armenian Genocide commemorations in Yerevan
French Senate Speaker Gérard Larcher is set to arrive in Yerevan on a three-day official visit on Friday to take part in the events commemorating the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
The top French official is visiting Armenia at the invitation of National Assembly Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan, the Armenian Embassy in France reports.
He will be accompanied by Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Committee, Senator Christian Cambon, Senators Bruno Retailleau, Patrick Kanner, Hervé Marseille, Éliane Assassi, Guillaume Gontard and President of the France-Armenia Friendship Group, Senator Gilbert-Luc Devinaz.
The French parliamentarians are expected to hold meetings with the Armenian prime minister, president, parliament speaker and foreign minister during the visit. A meeting with Catholicos Karekin II is also on the agenda.
