Armenian expert slams law enforcement use of force against Syunik residents
Armenian military expert Tigran Abrahamyan, the head of the analytical center Henaket, took to Facebook on Thursday to denounce the law enforcement use of force against the residents of Syunik Province.
Law enforcement officers detained on Thursday several local government officials and other residents of the border region where Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan faced angry protests during his visit on Wednesday.
“I wonder what the police chief, the heads of the Investigative Committee and the National Security Service, as well as the prosecutor general see when they are alone in a room or look in the mirror?” he wrote.
“Mr. self-seekers, you realize, right, that the chaos created by Pashinyan will end one day, and you, who carry out the orders of people like you, will have nothing else to do in our wounded country.
“I am referring to those law enforcement officers who commit obvious illegalities, use violence against people and humiliate them, in short, satisfy the whims of those who betrayed the nation,” Abrahamyan said, urging them to show “at least a little” respect for the homeland no matter what position or status they have.
The expert stated the law enforcement agencies have turned into “Pashinyan's service centers”.
“The curse words heard yesterday and today will ring in your ears for a long time,” he added.
