Robert Kocharyan: No action being taken about security issues
"Six months have passed since the end of the Artsakh war. Has anyone heard any discussion around security issues in our parliament or any decision made by the cabinet that would concern our Armed Forces?" former President Robert Kocharyan has said at a meeting with his supporters on April 21.
Kocharyan reminded that the government had adopted a new security strategy last year which contained no reference to "The Republic of Artsakh" and the war followed within months. "Have any changes been introduced to the National Security Strategy? Today, no action is being taken about security issues," stressed Kocharyan, raising a question whether the security of Armenia is ensured.
In the words of the former president, the existing situation emboldens Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev who is constantly making statements, insulting the dignity of the Armenian people and the country. Kocharyan believes that per every days steps should be taken to avoid the risk of the new war and neutralize it, as the country still faces escalation and wars.
"This is a state matter. From time to time, when I get familiarized with agenda issued discussed at parliament or during the cabinet sessions, I get astonished. We completely lack issues of priority. The Armenian authorities are unable to differentiate the primary and important issues from secondary ones," Kocharyan added.
