French Senate speaker’s delegation pays tribute to Armenian Genocide victims in Yerevan
A delegation led by French Senate Speaker Gérard Larcher visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial in Yerevan on Saturday to pay tribute to the 1.5 million innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide on the 106th anniversary of the tragedy.
“Heading to Armenia on this April 24 to attend the Armenian Genocide commemorations seemed obvious to me.
“In this year of mourning, pain and sufferings experienced by the Armenian people, it is essential to express our solidarity with Armenia. With the diversity of its political opinions, France stands with the Armenian people,” Larcher said in an interview to Nouvelles d'Arménie magazine.
The French delegation includes Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Committee, Senator Christian Cambon, Senators Bruno Retailleau, Patrick Kanner, Hervé Marseille, Éliane Assassi, Guillaume Gontard and President of the France-Armenia Friendship Group, Senator Gilbert-Luc Devinaz.
