No reconciliation possible without recognition, member of the German Bundestag says
German politician of the Christian Democratic Union, member of the German Bundestag Albert Weiler believes no reconciliation is without recognition of the Armenian genocide. In a message wrote on his Facebook, the German lawmakers noted: "Today is the commemoration of the first systematically planned Genocide of the 20th century. 106 years ago, about 1.5 million Armenians and other Christian minorities were brutally murdered and displaced from their homeland. To this day, Turkey has not acknowledged this dark chapter of its history, our common history."
He reminded that the Bundestag has already officially recognized the Armenian Genocide. “I call on the Turkish government to acknowledge the past. There is no reconciliation without recognition," he said.
