Manfred Weber calls on Turkey to fully recognise the reality of the Armenian Genocide
The leader of European People's Party (EPP) bloc in European Parliament Manfred Weber has issued an address on Armenian Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.
"Today we commemorate the Armenian Genocide and pay tribute to the victims of this tragedy. In 1915, 1.5 million of Armenians lost their lives in the massacres perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire," Weber said in his video address, adding: "For millions of Armenian these wounds arms till wide open.
The denial of the Genocide by today's Turkey's authorities makes it impossible to come to terms with the past. My country, Germany, knows how hard it can ben to face your history and your responsibility, But it is the only way towards reconciliation and to lasting peace between countries, This is why We call on Turkey to face history and fully recognise the reality of the Genocide."
