Bob Menendez:Thankful that President Biden will align with congressional and scholarly consensus on Armenian genocide
Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Bob Menendez took to Twitter to commemorate the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and thank the US President Joe Biden who is reportedly expected to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
"Today, on the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, we keep faith with those who stand up to injustice anywhere and everywhere around the world. We honor those who lost their lives and remember how they died," Menendez wrote.
In another tweet the US congressman said: "Thankful that President Biden will align with congressional and scholarly consensus. As I said in 2019 when our resolution to recognize & commemorate the genocide passed the Senate, to overlook human suffering is not who we are as a people. It is not what we stand for as a nation."
"I remain greatly inspired by the dedication of the Armenian community to ensuring the genocide is recognized as an irrefutable fact of history. Today we honor the memories of the 1.5 million innocent people who were killed, starved, and forced from their homeland. Only through acknowledgement and understanding may we learn from history’s darkest hours. Let us build a more peaceful future together," said the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
