Communist Party of Armenia: We can bring country out of this situation
The Communist Party of Armenia (CPA) held a procession on May 1 to celebrate Labor Day (International Workers' Day).
“Our slogans will be associated with the labor that we don't have, the problems of the Armenian people, emigration, abuse of public funds and taxes,” Acting First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia Yerjanik Ghazaryan told reporters.
He said the salvation of Armenia lies in socialism, calling for efforts to restore the socialist system.
“The recent 30-year period has shown that the return of socialism is the right way,” he said.
When asked about the possible participation of the CPA in the snap parliamentary elections, Ghazaryan said the party’s governing body has not yet made a decision on the matter.
“When the Central Electoral Commission announces the elections, our governing body will make a decision. Despite the fact that our party does not have financial resources other than our membership fees and the assistance of our supporters, of course, we have a say due to ruling the country for 70 years and we can bring the country out of this situation,” he stated.
In response to the remark that the CPA refrained from releasing statements during the recent war and remains silent in the post-war period, Yerjanik Ghazaryan noted that they were isolated from both the opposition and the authorities, and therefore their statements were not covered.
“The Communist Party of Armenia was the only party that on 14 October staged a protest outside the NATO office in Yerevan against Turkey’s participation in the war,” he added.
