Parliament will debate for the second time the item of the Prime Minister’s election on May 10
Pursuant to Article 140.3 of the constitutional law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, the item of the Prime Minister’s election will be debated on May 10, at 12:00 at the special sitting of the National Assembly be convened by force of law, the statement issued by the Speaker of the Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan said.
To note, the parliament debated the item on May 3 and did not elect Nikol Pashinyan in the post of the Prime Minister with 1 for, 3 against and 75 abstained vote s. To remind, Pashinyan announced his resignation on Sunday to pave the way for the snap parliamentary elections slated for 20 June. Under the Armenian constitution, following the prime minister’s resignation, the parliament has 14 days to elect a new head of government. In case it fails to do that after two attempts, the legislative body is dissolved and early parliamentary polls are appointed.According to the political consensus reached by the parliamentary factions no political force will nominate candidates for prime minister.
