Armenian ombudsman: From now on, Azerbaijani president’s statements will be subject to special monitoring
Armenia’s Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) Arman Tatoyan has sent official letters to the OSCE chief and the Minsk Group co-chairs, including excerpts from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s Armenophobic statements.
“I am sending official letters to the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and to the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, including excerpts from the recent speeches of the Azerbaijani president, which are evidence of the policy of hatred and animosity towards Armenians,” he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
“In these speeches, the president of Azerbaijan speaks in the language of force and threats, uses words that demean the dignity of the entire Armenian people, the entire population of Armenia and Artsakh, are intimidating, cause tension in the Armenian society, while he emphasizes the superiority of the Azerbaijani people.
“This new process initiated by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia will be ongoing and continuous. From now on, the speeches and messages of the Azerbaijani president will be subject to special monitoring.
“Our goal is to show the genocidal policy of the Azerbaijani authorities, which is a serious threat to gross violations of human rights and constitute a threat of new atrocities, and which endanger peace and security,” the ombudsman said.
