Prices of essential goods increase in Armenia
The prices for food and non-alcoholic beverage prose 8.3% in April 2021 to compare with April last year and by 2.6% against March of the ongoing year, according to the latest figures unveiled by the country's Statistical Committee. The statistics show that for the indicated period prices for food (including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco), services and non-food products rose by 3.4%, 0.3% and 0.4%, respectively. Prices for fruit grew by 10.4% in Armenia in 12 months of last year, while vegetable prices rose by 8.5%.
Prices of oils and fats increased by 8.6% in 2021, while the prices for sugar rose by 41.0% against April 2020. Cereals and bakery prices were up by 7.6%,, with the inflation of bread and flour comprising 7.3% and 10.0%, respectively.
Meat products saw 4.0% price rise against April 2020 and 0.6% to compare with March prices of the ongoing year. Prices for dairy products, cheese and eggs also increased by 13.4% in April this year.
