NSS denies reports about battles in Syunik
Armenia's National Security Service (NSS) refuted on Wednesday reports about battles in the territory of southern Syunik province, saying the information spread on media and social media 'does not correspond to reality.'
"Considering the concerns among the public as a result of the spread of these reports, the Security Service strictly warns against actions aimed at spreading disinformation, causing panic among the population and undue tensions . "These actions will have respective legal consequences with the strictest measures," the press service at NSS said.
It also called to refrain from disseminating inaccurate and non-official reports and rely exclusively on the official news. To remind, earlier reports suggested the Azerbaijani troops advanced in the direction of Ishkhanasar, a village in Armenia’s Syunik Province. Later, the Defense Ministry released a statement saying early on Wednesday morning the Azerbaijani troops tried to carry out activity in one of the border areas of Syunik under the pretext of “border adjustments”.
The Azerbaijani servicemen ended the activity following measures taken by the Armenian side. At the moment, negotiations are underway to settle the situation, the ministry said.
