Armenian Defense Ministry reports fresh Azerbaijani provocation near Vardenis and Sisian
The Azerbaijani military carried out another provocation against the sovereign territory of Armenia under the pretext of “border clarification” on Thursday, May 13, trying to advance its positions in the border areas near the towns of Vardenis and Sisian in Syunik Province, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"In both cases, as a result of measures taken by the Armenian army, the advance was stopped and the Azerbaijani forces were demanded to leave the territory immediately and return to their starting positions,” the statement said.
The Defense Ministry condemned these steps Azerbaijan has been taking since May 12 as overt provocation.
In order to avoid unpredictable developments, the ministry demands the armed forces of Azerbaijan to immediately return to their initial positions and to refrain from encroachments on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.
