Michael Chong: Trudeau government must speak up to defend Armenia’s territorial integrity
Canadian MP Michael Chong took to Twitter on Thursday to express concerns about reports of Azerbaijani troops crossing into Armenia.
He stated the government of Justin Trudeau “must speak up” to defend the territorial integrity of Armenia.
“Having approved arms exports that upset the balance of power in Nagorno-Karabakh war, the Trudeau government must speak up to defend the territorial integrity of Armenia,” Chong tweeted.
On Wednesday morning the Azerbaijani military crossed the state border of Armenia close to Sev Lich (Black Lake) in Syunik Province and advanced as far as 3.5 kilometers in an effort to surround the lake.
At an emergency meeting of the Security Council on Thursday, Armenia’s caretaker Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said some 250 Azerbaijani troops were still located within Armenia’s state borders, particularly in some parts of Syunik and Gegharkunik Provinces.
