Armenian forces continue preventing Azeri forces to replenish reserves in the border area
"As of the morning of May 18, the situation emerged after the provocative actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces in some border areas of Armenia since May 12 and 13 has not change," the Defense Ministry reported in a statement on Tuesday. According to the source, relative calm is observed as the Armenian forces continue to prevent attempts of the Azerbaijani troops to replenish their reserves.
According to the source, all support routes are under the full control of the Armenian armed forces in Gegharkunik and Syunik provinces. It is expected that negotiations on a complete settlement of the current situation will continue tomorrow, on May 19.
"The Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia emphasize the need for a peaceful settlement of the situation, nevertheless, once again declaring that encroachments on the sovereign territories of Armenia are absolutely unacceptable. The Azerbaijani military should leave the territory of Armenia without preconditions and refrain in the future from similar provocations," the Ministry added.
