Azerbaijani troops must return to their starting positions – Armenian Defense Ministry
Armenia’s caretaker Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan held a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu on Wednesday evening.
Harutyunyan briefed Shoigu on the situation created by the provocations carried out by the Azerbaijani military and the measures taken by the Armenian side. Both sides agreed on the need for a peaceful settlement of the issue, the Defense Ministry of Armenia reported.
At the same time, the Armenian defense chief stressed that encroachments on the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia are absolutely unacceptable and the Azerbaijani troops must return to their starting positions.
Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Sergei Shoigu also discussed the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) and a number of other issues related to regional security.
