Pashinyan: 500-600 Azerbaijani troops still in Armenia’s territory
At a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Armenia’s caretaker Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the situation in the border areas of Syunik and Gegharkunik Provinces has not changed and remains tense.
He said 500-600 Azerbaijani troops are still staying in Armenia’s sovereign territory.
According to Pashinyan, the tactical steps taken by the Armenian military are aimed at limiting the potential of the Azerbaijani forces’ actions.
“In terms of politics, our task is to not let the situation get out of control,” he said.
Pashinyan assured that "enormous diplomatic work” is being carried out, which is evidenced by the fact that the acting foreign minister was not present at the government meeting.
Referring to the document published by former Armenian Ambassador to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan, Pashinyan confirmed that Armenia is negotiating a new document with Azerbaijan and Russia.
