CSTO doors should be open for all countries, including Azerbaijan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister says
The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) should keep its doors open for all states, including Azerbaijan, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told an interview with Izvestia newspaper. on Monday. The Russian diplomat noted, however, there are certain limitation that could potentially prevent Azerbaijan from joining the military bloc.
“The only thing that can restrict Azerbaijan's membership is that certain provisions of the CSTO charter require diplomatic relations among the participating states. Now there are no such relations between Baku and Yerevan. As soon as such relations are established, we hope that sooner or later this will happen and then the issue can be discussed at the practical level,” Rudenko added.
