Defense ministry denies Azerbaijani reports about border incursion by 40 Armenian servicemen
"Azerbaijan’s Defense ministry has released another disinformation, alleging around 40 Armenian servicemen had crossed into Azerbaijani territory in the evening of June 1 and were forced to retreat," Armenia's Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday.
"It’s obvious that the Azerbaijani military-political leadership is circulating such disinformation for creating an impression within the international community that the Armenian Armed Forces are attempting to escalate the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as well as for counterbalancing the provocation on infiltrating into Armenia’s territory by the Azerbaijani armed forces on May 12 and 13," the Ministry said.
According to the source, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia never crossed the Azerbaijani border on June 1 and in the days preceding, and all claims of the Azerbaijani side about the opposite are disinformation the scale of which has greatly increased in the recent period.
It is reminded that the Azerbaijan defense ministry had spread another report days ago about alleged shootings from the Armenian side at the border as well as toward Azerbaijani positions in Shushi which were swiftly refuted by the Armenian defense officials as well as the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh.
