Robert Kocharyan: During the war we felt acutely the absence of the military-technical industry
"When the air space was completely shut down - during the whole war from the Georgian direction and in the first three weeks from Iranian direction - we felt acutely what the absence of the military-technical industry was," Armenia's ex-president, the leader of "Armenia" pre-election bloc Robert Kocharyan stated at the meeting with retired high-level law enforcement officers.
In Kocharyan's words, Armenia is a small country and may not be able to have an advanced military-technical industry in all branches but can take 2-3 technological directions and develop them through the state support.
"The example of Israel shows that a small country can have serious military-technical plants," said Kocharyan, adding the sector may require financial resources, however, when it is well-organised, it may generate serious income for the country.
