Arsen Babayan slams detention of I’m Honored bloc’s MP candidate Ruben Khlghatyan
A member of the I’m Honored bloc, lawyer Arsen Babayan took to Facebook early on Friday to denounce the detention of the bloc’s MP candidate Ruben Khlghatyan.
He claimed the “fabricated” criminal charges against Khlghatyan are aimed at curtailing the rapid growth of the rating of the alliance formed by the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the Homeland Party led by former security chief Arthur Vanetsyan.
Ruben Khlghatyan was detained late last night for alleged election-related bribery.
“Surveys conducted by many reputable organizations over the past week have revealed that the rating of the I’m Honored bloc is growing rapidly. That very fact terrified the capitulator [referring to caretaker PM Pashinyan], therefore the latter decided to carry out another political persecution against the member of our bloc,” Babayan wrote.
“I officially announce that any member of the I’m Honored bloc has nothing to do even with the "electoral bribe" phrase, especially Ruben Khlghatyan, who has so much authority and supporters that can alone defeat the entire political team of the capitulator in the elections,” he said, stating the charges are politically motivated and warning Pashinyan of its consequences.
